The flood warning for Maui and flood advisory for the Big Island have expired.
4:55 p.m.
A flood advisory for Oahu has expired but a large area of Maui is under a flash flood warning this evening.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued the warning for the Valley Isle until 7:45 p.m.
“At 4:38 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain continuing over the slopes of Haleakala. Rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were detected over the Haiku and Hana areas,” the warning said. “Low spots along Waikoloa Road and Ulaino Road near Hana may become impassable. Heavy rain southwest of Kihei may also move onshore and cause urban flooding from Maalaea to Wailea.”
The warning includes Kahului, Haliimaile, Waikapu, Paia, Makawao, Wailuku, Keokea, Waiehu, Haiku-Pauwela and Wailea.
A flood advisory was also issued for the entire island of Maui, Molokai and the western side of the Big Island. The Maui and Molokai advisory lasts until 6:45 p.m, while the Big Island advisory is through 7:45 p.m.
The weather service dropped an earlier advisory for Oahu as afternoon rains.
2:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has extended a flood advisory for Oahu until 5:30 p.m. today.
As of 2:11 p.m., heavy rain continues to fall over parts of Oahu along the Koolau mountains from Kaaawa to Waimea at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Locations now falling under the advisory include Hauula, Punaluu, Kahuku and Laie.
According to the NWS, the rainfall has shifted to the northeast, away from Leeward and Central Oahu.
12:10 p.m.
An earlier flash flood warning for the island of Maui has been canceled.
11:55 a.m.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Oahu until 2:30 p.m.
“At 11:35 a.m., radar showed heavy rain over the Waianae range and central Oahu. Rain rates were 1 to 2 inches per hour,” the advisory said. “Additional rainfall is expected to continue into the afternoon.”
The advisory includes Hauula, Mililani, Wahiawa, Waialua, Schofield Barracks, Punaluu, Waianae, Wheeler Field, Kunia, Kapolei, and Waikele.
A flash flood warning for West Maui is in effect until 12:15 p.m.

Weather officials have issued a flash flood warning for Maui, effective until 12:15 p.m. today.
At 9:18 a.m., emergency management on Maui County reported flash flooding on Front Street in Lahaina, with ponding beginning to affect some businesses there.
Radar indicated very heavy thundershowers will continue across West Maui for the next hour or two, with rainfall rates of two to three inches per hour expected to continue in the heaviest downpours, according to weather officials.
Locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Kapalua, Honokohau, Maalaea, Kahakuloa, Waihee, Waikapu, Kaanapali, Lahaina, Wailuku, Napili-Honokowai, Waiehu and Olowalu.
A flood advisory was also issued for East Molokai, in effect until 10:45 a.m. today.
Radar at 8:26 a.m. indicated a slow-moving line of very heavy thundershowers extending across the eastern tip of Molokai, including the areas of Pukoo and Halawa Valley, with rainfall rates of two to three inches per hour.
Locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Kawela, Kalaupapa National Park, Pukoo, Ualapue, Halawa Valley, Kamalo and Kualapuu.
Rainfall and runoff will cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. The public is advised to stay away from streams and drainage ditches, and not to cross fast-flowing or rising water in their vehicles, or on foot.
