Man rescued from Chinatown canal in critical condition

A man was taken to a hospital after he fell into canal waters in Chinatown this morning.

Emergency Medical Services said a bystander witnessed a man, described to be in his 50s, fall into the water at the River Street canal in the area of N. Hotel and River streets at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Bystanders pulled him out of the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him. Paramedics arrived and administered life-saving treatment.

He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
