Three Hawaii surfers moved past the first round during stop No. 9 on the World Surf League Championship Tour in 4- to 6-foot conditions in Soorts-Hossegor, France, on Tuesday.
After having to wait a week, the men completed round 1 and the first two heats of the second round. Sebastian Zietz won his first-round heat with a 10.70 score, while Ezekiel Lau (13.33) and Keanu Asing (10.70) placed second in their respective heats. By winning his heat, Zietz advanced to the third round, while Lau and Asing will compete in round two later today, surf permitting.
On the women’s side, both Carissa Moore and Malia Manuel advanced into round three, having already won their respective second-round heats on Monday at the Roxy Pro.
