Girl, 17, arrested following crash, assault on officer

A 17-year-old girl allegedly assaulted a law enforcement officer in Kalihi on Saturday night after she was spotted riding a stolen moped that fled the scene of a prior motor vehicle collision.

The girl was spotted by a Honolulu Police Department officer at 7:19 p.m. and later located and arrested at 10 p.m.

HPD provided no details on the crash or what led the girl to be arrested for investigation of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.

The girl was released pending investigation.
