A scene from “Venom.”

“VENOM”

>> Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for language.

>> What it’s about: The Marvel Comics spider-verse tale of Eddie Brock, a reporter with an alien parasite named Venom. It may be from the comics, but this isn’t a superhero movie — think supervillain.

>> The kid attractor factor: The comic book origins, the action genre and character will draw kids and teens.

>> Good lessons/bad lessons: Don’t eat the heads of police officers. No, but really, own up to your mistakes, expose evil and embrace all of yourself, even if that self is a bloodthirsty alien parasite.

>> Violence: Some outlandish alien fights, head chomps, motorcycle chases, gunfights, stabbings, etc.

>> Language: Some swearing

>> Sexuality: A kiss, an implied sex scene (no nudity)

>> Drugs: None

>> Parents advisory: Errs far more on the violent side for a comic book movie. It may be way too scary for younger kids.
