Nearly 10 months after the collision that left a top amateur triathlete critically injured, police arrested the 21-year-old man they say was responsible for the incident.
Taylor Liang was formally charged Thursday with first-degree negligent injury. Police executing a bench warrant arrested Liang on Friday afternoon.
Police said Liang was racing with another car on Tantalus Drive around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 when he lost control and collided head-on with Lectie Altman, who was riding her bicycle.
Altman suffered major injuries to her hands, arms, wrists, hips and legs and has undergone multiple surgeries as a result of the collision.
Liang was arrested at the scene but released pending further investigation.
