Letter: Situational principles turn folks from GOP

How times have changed: Then it was, “Lock her up!” Now it’s, “Innocent until proven guilty.”

Then it was childish nicknames like “Lyin,” “Little,” and “Crooked” for opponents. Now it’s about restoring “civil discourse.”

Then it was about “liberal snowflakes.” Now it’s about the “liberal mob.”

Then it was about balancing the budget at all costs. Now it’s about tax breaks for the wealthy despite growing deficits.

It’s nonsense like this that makes Hawaii vote Democratic. It’s time for Republicans to recheck their principles.
