A man was taken to a hospital after was found unresponsive in waters off of Waikiki Beach today.
Lifeguards brought the man in his 60s to shore after they spotted him face down in the water at the beach fronting the Waikiki Police Station at approximately 9:45 a.m. today.
They brought him to shore and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used an automatic defibrillator, according to Dustin Malama, spokesman of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and took over treatment with advanced life-support. Malama said the man regained a pulse and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
