Police searching for inmate who escaped Waiawa Correctional Facility

    Jason Otto Soriano, 37, escaped from Waiawa Correctional Facility tonight.

The Department of Public Safety is looking for an inmate who escaped from Waiawa Correctional Facility tonight.

The staff at the prison reported Jason Otto Soriano, 37, missing after a 7 p.m. head count.

The prison was locked down and a grounds search was performed.

The Sheriffs Division and the police were notified.

Public Safety said in a news release that how he escaped remains under investigation.

Soriano is 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighs 160 pounds.He has brown eyes and brown hair, but shaves his head.

He is a minimum custody level inmate, and is serving time for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

His next parole hearing was scheduled for December 2020.

Anyone with information on Soriano is asked to call 911 or Sheriffs at 586-1352.
