Honolulu paramedics treated the man at the scene and transported him to a hospital in serious condition.

A 62-year-old man was injured in an early morning fire today at a two-story townhouse in Ewa.

Firefighters arrived at the structure on Kilaha Steet at 4:19 a.m. to find smoke and flames coming from the rear of one unit. The fire was brought under control at 4:28 a.m. and extinguished within a half-hour.

Two men and a girl escaped the blaze after being alerted by a fire alarm within the unit, officials said. One of the men suffered burns and was transported in serious condition to a hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. An estimate of damage to the one unit was not available.
