Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Nimitz Highway

A pedestrian in his 50s was seriously injured tonight when a vehicle struck him on Nimitz Highway, Emergency Medical Services said.

EMS personnel treated the man with for apparent injuries to his head, body, arms and legs. He was then transported by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition.

The collision occurred at about 6:45 p.m. in the area of Sand Island Access Road and Nimitz Highway.

Police closed Nimitz westbound lanes at Puuhale Road. The road was reopened at about 7:33 p.m.
