Hawaii’s Casey Castillo lines up a kill attempt during the second set.

Senior hitter McKenna Granato put down 17 kills with just two errors and Hawaii defeated UC Davis 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14 in the Big West volleyball season finale for both tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior libero Tita Akiu had 18 digs and the Rainbow Wahine (18-8, 14-2) outblocked the Aggies (16-12, 8-8) 12-5.

Hawaii will learn on Nov. 25 if finishing second in the conference is good enough for an NCAA at-large bid. The Wahine have only missed the postseason once, an injury-plagued 15-12 season of 1992.

Senior hitter Casey Castillo added 12 kills and junior setter-hitter Norene Iosia turned in her 15th double-double (20 assists, 13 digs). Iosia was one kill shy of her fifth triple-double, finishing with nine kills to go along with a career-high five blocks. Senior setter Faith Ma’afala added her 10th double-double with 22 assists and 12 digs.

Senior hitter Brianna Karsseboom had 16 kills and senior hitter Emily Allen added a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs). Senior libero Malia Bolko had 22 digs in her final match.

Hawaii has won 11 straight on senior night dating back to 2007.
