Hawaiian Airlines flight to Sydney returns to Honolulu

Hawaiian Airlines flight 451 is on the runway following its return to Honolulu. The airport deployed fire engines as a standard precaution.
A Hawaiian Airlines plane bound for Sydney returned to Honolulu after takeoff Sunday because of a possible problem with a hydraulic system.
There were 201 passengers aboard Flight No. 451, which took off from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at 11:57 a.m. It was diverted about an hour and 25 minutes into the flight, according to Ann Botticelli, senior vice president for corporate communications at Hawaiian Air.
“An indicator light in the cockpit indicated one of the three hydraulic systems might have an issue,” Botticelli said. “So they returned to Honolulu.”
There was no emergency and the plane landed without incident, she said. The airport deployed fire engines as a standard precaution.
“Passengers are being re-accommodated on the first available aircraft,” Botticelli said. “They have been given meal vouchers while they wait.”
