Kauai firefighters extinguished a fire at a one-bedroom house in Kealia that broke out Saturday night when no one was home.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, which was first reported at 9:40 p.m. on Kaao Road. Firefighters found the house fully engulfed and managed to contain the fire, then put it out completely by 10:10 p.m.

Fire inspectors estimated damage to the structure and contents at about $75,000.

Kealia is between Kapaa and Anahola on Kauai’s east shore.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross are helping the occupant of the home with food, clothing and shelter as needed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
