Max Holloway, left, fights Brian Ortega during the featherweight championship mixed martial arts bout at UFC 231 in Toronto tonight.

Max Holloway’s reign continues.

The UFC featherweight champion recorded his 13th straight win in the Octagon after a ringside doctor stopped his fight against Brian Ortega after the fourth round in the main event of UFC 231 on Saturday night in Toronto.

Ortega suffered his first professional defeat after his left eye swelled up following a severe beating at the hands of Holloway, who improved to 20-3 overall.

Holloway landed 156 significant strikes over the 20-minute duration of the fight, according to FightMetric.com. Holloway was up 40-35, 40-35, 40-34 on the judges’ scorecards after four rounds.

“He’s a tough opponent, tough guy. We’ll probably see each other all the way to heavyweight because we like to eat,” Holloway said in a postfight interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Holloway hadn’t fought in a year and ate a high volume of punches, but stayed the aggressor for the entire fight.

He weighed in at 144.5 pounds after struggling to make weight in his last two fights.

“I made weight. I made it look easy,” Holloway said. “I’ll tell you what. I want to be the No. 1 pound for pound. If there’s guys at 155, let’s do it.”

Holloway’s winning streak is tied for the second-longest in UFC history behind Anderson Silva’s 16 consecutive victories.

Ortega dropped to 14-1.
