From veterans to kids, all ages turn out to finish marathon

    Titus Ekiru won the 46th Honolulu Marathon on Sunday with the second fastest time in the history of the event, finishing in two hours, nine minutes and one second. Vivian Jerono Kiplagat won the women's race, also after building a big lead in the second half of the race and finishing unchallenged. Her time was 2:36:22.

    A colorful group from Japan turned the corner from 18th Avenue onto Kilauea Avenue in Kahala during Sunday’s Honolulu Marathon, the fourth-largest marathon in the United States. A total of 32,767 people signed up for the marathon, the Start to Park 10K and Saturday’s Kalakaua Merrie Mile.

    Kayleen Adams (No. 964) from Albany, Ore., and Dawn Perry (No. 644) from Honolulu got a refreshing spray from 17-year-old volunteer Dasen Nakatani at the 22-mile marker in Kahala.
