A Circuit Court judge set a trial date for a 38-year-old woman accused of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old woman in Pearl City.
Waydene Davis, also known as Waydene Kaohi, appeared at her arraignment before Judge Colette Garibaldi via closed-circuit video link from the Oahu Community Correctional Center on Monday. An Oahu grand jury had recently returned an indictment, charging her with second-degree attempted murder.
Deputy Public Defender Doris Lum entered a not-guilty plea to the charge.
Garibaldi confirmed Davis’ bail at $250,000 and set her trial for February.
The stabbing occurred at a Kuokoa Street home on the night of Nov. 30. Court documents said a witness in the home heard the victim yell for help and observed lacerations on the victim’s back and legs.
Police said the witness also observed Davis walk past her room holding what appeared to be a hunting knife.
The witness immediately called 911.
The 25-year-old woman was taken in critical condition to a hospital.
The motive in the attack is unclear at this time.
Davis has a criminal record of promoting a detrimental drug in the third degree, harassment and third-degree assault.
