The Hawaii women’s basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Utah in a 73-48 defeat today for the Duel in the Desert championship in Las Vegas.

The Utes (11-0), featuring former Rainbow Wahine forward Megan Huff, powered their way past UH (4-8) in the third quarter at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion after the Wahine remained within 29-25 at halftime. The Pac-12 team, one of 10 unbeatens in the country, won that period 32-11 and coasted to the victory.

Huff won the Big West Sixth Player of the Year award with UH in 2014-15 and 2015-16 before transferring. She had 15 points, 10 rebounds and four turnovers against her former team.

UH was held to a season low in scoring. However, senior Lahni Salanoa (14) and freshman Myrrah Joseph (nine) recorded season highs in points.

The Wahine complete their three-game road trip on Dec. 29 at Nevada.
