Aulani lauded for embracing Native Hawaiian language

    Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa opened seven years ago with a fun concept called the 'Olelo Room. Aulani now has enough Hawaiian language speakers on staff that a guest could spend their entire resort vacation speaking only in Hawaiian.

    Aulani Disney Ambassador Manako Tanaka recently had 47 Disney employees from multiple locations spend hundred of hours transcribing articles and documents of Hawaiian history for the purpose of forwarding them to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs for papakilodatabase.com, a website that allows online users to search Hawaiian-language newspapers. Tanaka stands in front of a guide for pronouncing Hawaiian words at the Aulani resort.
