Ward Village’s smart-parking garage is opening Wednesday morning.

Ae‘o Ward Village Parking uses a camera-based system by Park Assist that is supposed to optimize parking guidance, reduce wait time and improve traffic flow.

Ward Village said the garage will add 720 parking stalls to the area, including two levels dedicated to shoppers of the flagship Whole Foods Market, set to open by this summer. Ae‘o is at 1001 Queen St.

Levels four through six with 384 stalls will open Wednesday. The remainder of the parking structure will open later this year.

Overnight parking is not allowed.
