Here’s a list of events this Memorial Day weekend:

Today

>> Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium: Ceremony at Hawaii’s official World War I monument begins at 10 a.m., featuring three service branches and the Hawaii National Guard, veterans groups, including a motorcycle ride-in, keiki hula and music, a rifle volley, bagpipes and Taps. Pre-service music at 9:30 a.m. by Marine Corps Forces Pacific quintet.

>> Boy Scouts “Good Turn” ceremony: Event at 1 p.m., followed by over 1,000 Boy Scouts placing lei and flags on graves at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

>> Punchbowl candlelight ceremony: The ceremony, dedicated to the family members of veterans, begins at 5 p.m. with music by the Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band. Hawaiian Airlines and the Coast Guard also are participating. Keynote speaker is Rear Adm. Jon C. Kreitz of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.

Monday

>> 69th Annual Mayor’s Ceremony: Event begins at 8:30 a.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and features speeches, color guard, presentations, firearm salute, aircraft flyover and music by Royal Hawaiian Band and Sounds of Aloha Chorus. The public is encouraged to use free parking at Joint Traffic Management Center on Kealamakai Street and catch TheBus from the Alapai Station to Punchbowl from 7 to 8 a.m. Regular fares and passes will be in effect. Overflow parking is available at Lincoln Elementary School and Stevenson Middle School. Handi-Van reserved rides and licensed/marked taxis will be allowed to drive into the cemetery for dropoffs. Reserved seating offered to veterans and invited guests; remaining seats will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

>> Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery: Gov. David Ige will host the “Honoring Our Fallen Warriors and Gold Star Families” event, starting at 12:45 p.m. with music. Shuttle service on the grounds available from 11:30 a.m.; signed liability waiver required before boarding.

>> Memorial Day Remembrance: Veterans who gave their lives in service will be honored in a 10 a.m. ceremony at Post Cemetery on Schofield Barracks that is open to the public. Col. Steve Dawson, commander of U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, will be the speaker. Visitors without a military ID should enter through Lyman Gate on Kunia Road; all vehicle occupants 16 years of age and older must present a valid ID. Drivers must provide a current driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance and safety check.
