2 arrested after stolen car runs red light in Makakilo

Police arrested a man and a woman who were in a stolen car that ran a red light in Makakilo and collided with another vehicle.

An officer saw the car run a red light about 9:20 a.m. Thursday and ran a check to find the car had been stolen in a burglary in Kalihi three days earlier, police said.

The stolen vehicle hit another vehicle while fleeing the area and was found abandoned nearby, police said.

A few minutes later, officers found the man and woman walking on a sidewalk and arrested them without incident. No one was injured.

Police arrested the 31-year-old man on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, fleeing the scene of an accident, and disregarding a red light.

The woman was arrested and charged with entering a stolen vehicle. Leimomi Taa, of Komo Mai Drive, got out on $1,000 bail.
