Workers surround the hole left after a car drove into Pearl Harbor Christian Academy today.

Two women were seriously injured today when a car crashed into the school library at the Pearl Harbor Christian Academy, according to officials.

A 37-year-old school employee, who was in the library and the car’s 73-year-old driver were both in serious but stable condition, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said.

The older woman was driving a 2008 Honda Civic 11:52 a.m. when she crashed into the school building at 94-1044 Waipio Uka St.

Police said no skid marks were apparent at the scene where the driver was heading north in a lane of traffic in the school parking lot. Instead of stopping or turning, she proceeded straight into the wooden library building, police said.

The school employee was seated inside the library when she was struck, and was taken by ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Center, police said.

The older woman was taken by ambulance to the Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center, an Emergency Medical Services official said.

Police said no children or other employees were inside the library at the time.
