A 45-foot sail boat was towed off the reef fronting the beach at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel after running around early this morning.

There were no injuries, according to Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.

Seelig said the vessel -“Epic” – with two men on board ran aground off Waikiki Beach before 5:45 a.m. when the fire department was called.

The vessel was stuck on the reef several 100 yards off shore near the Kaisers and Threes surf spots until it was towed by a private salvage company to the Ala Wai Boat Harbor at 7:45 a.m.

Seelig said one of the men remained on the boat and the other was able to make it to shore on his own.
