Early morning cloudy skies and windward and mauka showers should give way to a sunshine by this afternoon, National Weather Service forecasters say.
The upper atmosphere weather system that caused heavy rains on Kauai, parts of Oahu and Maui County Tuesday and Wednesday has moved east, away from the islands.
Forecasters lifted a flash flood watch for Oahu and Maui County early this morning.
National Weather Service forecaster John Bravender said there are still a few lingering showers over Hawaii island and in windward and mauka areas and some cloudiness, but conditions are much drier than yesterday.
“We’re still a little unstable (in the atmosphere) and the showers that do occur could be briefly heavy. But flooding conditions aren’t expected,” he said.
Bravender said it may feel a little humid today, but the return of 10 to 15 mph trade winds should cool things off.
The forecast for Honolulu calls for cloudy skies in the morning, then partly sunny skies this afternoon.
Skies should be mostly sunny Friday, but another weather system is moving over the islands this weekend and the weather services says it may rain Friday and Saturday nights.
Easter Sunday, however, should be mostly sunny.
