Collision with sedan kills motorcyclist on Kauai

A 52-year-old Kapaa man was killed this afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a sedan on Kuhio Highway.

According to police, the motorcyclist was heading north on the highway around 5 p.m. when the southbound sedan made a left turn toward Lanikai Street and collided with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the sedan, an 82-year-old Kapaa woman, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed Kuhio highway in both directions while an investigation was conducted.
