Driver held for alleged DUI, firearms possession

Police arrested a 29-year-old Waipahu man Friday evening for allegedly driving under the influence with a prohibited firearm in the vehicle, according to police records.

Police stopped the man on Kamehameha IV Road in the Kalihi just before 5 p.m. for an alleged traffic violation and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, according to police records.

He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm, based on unspecified items officers found inside the vehicle, police said. He was also arrested for allegedly refusing to submit to a drug test, police records show. 

The man remained in custody Saturday.
