Fire destroys room at Pahoa home

A fire  on Hawaii island destroyed a room that had been added on to a home on Nenue Street in Pahoa early Sunday morning.

Hawaii County firefighters responded to a 3;33 a.m. alarm and found a room attached to a single-story home on fire. Firefighters brought the fire under control at about 3:50 a.m., about 3 minutes after arriving on scene. The fire was extinguished by 3:55 a.m.

Damage to the room, which measured about 500 square feet, was estimated at $12,500.

There were no injuries. The cause has not been determined.
