A former clerk at Ka Waihona o Ka Na’auao Public Charter School has pleaded no contest to theft in the second degree.

Christine K.S. Atisanoe was charged with theft in the second degree for stealing $19,750 from the school between Jan. 6, 2010 and March 2, 2012, according to a news release issued by Monday by the state Attorney General’s Office.

Atisanoe, 34, was responsible for collecting and depositing payments from students and parents made to the school. These payments were made for school meals, the A+ program, excursions and other activities.

The school conducted an audit and found that Atisanoe did not deposit the money into the proper school account. The audit also concluded that Atisanoe kept cash payments to pay her utility and credit card bills.

On Thursday, acceptance of Atisanoe’s no contest plea was moved for deferred and sentenced was scheduled for July 15, according to the release
