Hawaii County to hold household hazardous waste collection

The Hawaii County Department of Environmental Management will hold household hazardous waste collections in December, according to a news release Tuesday.

The collections will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Hilo Recycling and Transfer Station and Dec. 14

at the Kailua-Kona (Keala-kehe) Recycling and Transfer Station.

These events are for household-generated and self-hauled waste only. No business or farm wastes and no electronic waste will be accepted.

The next collections of household hazardous waste will be March 1 in Wai-mea and March 2 in Pahoa. For information, contact Linda Peters, recycling coordinator with the Department of Environmental Management, at 961-8942 or email lpeters@co.hawaii.hi.us.
