Hawaii island man arrested for allegedly firing a firearm

A 64-year-old Mountain View man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly fired a firearm in a residential area off Kukui Camp Road and threatened a nearby resident, Hawaii County police said.

Officers responded shortly after noon and located and arrested the man.

He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.

The case is classified as a second-degree reckless endangering and a first-degree terroristic threatening.
