The Hawaii women’s volleyball team heads back on the road today with a new ranking: No. 8 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25.
The Rainbow Wahine (15-1, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference) traded places with Penn State (11-5). The Nittany Lions dropped to No. 9 following their loss to top-ranked Illinois.
The Fighting Illini, the only undefeated ranked team, received 58 of 60 first-place votes. Washingon (15-1) moved up a spot to No. 2, with USC (13-3) receiving one vote, up two spots to No. 3.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Cal (17-2), Nebraska (13-1), UCLA (14-3, one vote) Stanford (12-3), Hawaii, Penn State and Texas (10-4).
Hawaii puts its 10-match winning streak on the line Wednesday in a ESPNU-televised match at New Mexico State (15-4, 5-0 WAC).
