A bodysurfer took off on a wave at Sandy Beach on Friday. National Weather Service forecasters said surf on east-facing shores could reach 7 to 10 feet over the next two days.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for east shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.

The advisory was in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday as waves of 5 to 8 feet, generated by strong winds, come ashore.

Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents to make swimming difficult and dangerous, forecasters said.

"Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution," the National Weather Service said.
