The Honolulu Department of Environmental Services is reminding Oahu residents to recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays.

The city says residents with city refuse collection should place their trees at the curb along with other green waste. The city is reminding people to remove ornaments and tinsel from the trees.

The city says those with green carts must fit their trees in their carts with the lid closed.

Households with manual collection may cut the tree into lengths up to three feet and bundle the parts for curbside collection.

Residents may also drop their trees off at any Refuse Convenience Center or directly at the composting facility. The city says no tip fee will be charged for Christmas trees over the holidays.
