Man, 18, facing charges tied to Hilo business burglary

Hawaii County police today charged a man for stealing from a Hilo business.

Robert Pookela Manaole, 18, who has no permanent address, was charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft. His bail was set at $4,000. 

Hilo police responding to an alarm turned in by a business at 1:44 a.m. Wednesday saw a man fleeing from the area. Police later discovered that one of the businesses had been burglarized.

Patrol officers arrested Manaole at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The media release issued by the county’s police department on this matter included no additional information about the theft.
