Maui apartment building fire forces evacuation of 50 residents
A structure fire at the Sunset Terrace apartments in Lahaina prompted the evacuation of some 50 occupants Monday evening.
The fire, reported about 6 p.m., was confined to a third-story unit. Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the structure and contents.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by 7:18 p.m.
The lone occupant of the unit was not home at the time of the incident.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is “undetermined,” a Fire Department spokesman said.
