A dump truck went over a lookout area today along Pali Highway.

A dump truck driver managed to escape with minor injuries Saturday before the truck he was driving plunged 50 feet down a cliff at a lookout area along the Pali Highway near Kapena Falls.

Police said the driver of the RK Construction truck noticed a problem with his brakes, pulled into the lookout parking lot, but the truck would not stop despite engaging the emergency brake.

The truck continued at 10 mph, and the driver jumped out before it went through a short rock wall and fell down the cliff at about 1:06 p.m.

He was taken by ambulance in good condition to a hospital, police said.
