Police arrest suspect after 3 people stabbed in Hilo

Hawaii County police arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the stabbings of three people in in Hilo early Friday.

Officers responding to a bar at 168 Keawe St. found a 28-year-old Pahoa man and a 27-year-old Hilo woman with stab wounds just after midnight.

The suspect fled on foot after damaging a car, police said.

Moments later, police said another 49-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a home on the 300 block of Ohai St. in Wainaku.

Officers began searching for the suspect, an acquaintance of the Ohai St. victim, and located him at a Hilo home at 7:36 a.m.

Police said the Pahoa man was in critical condition at the Hilo Medical Center. The Wainaku man was in stable condition and the woman was treated and released for her injuries.
