Police search for man who threatened Hawaii island woman with knife

Hawaii County police are looking for a man who allegedly accosted a 19-year-old Pahoa woman two months ago in the Puna District.

According to police, the victim was walking along Kahakai Boulevard near Da Store at 9:12 p.m. Feb. 5 when a dark-colored sedan pulled up and a Caucasian male exited. The man allegedly brandished a knife and threatened the victim, who walked away.

The driver fled the area, driving makai on Kahakai Boulevard. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as 5-feet-5, 140 pounds, with short brown hair and a medium build. The vehicle may be a Honda or Toyota.

The case has been classified as first-degree terroristic threatening.
