Report alleges exam cheating in UK

LONDON (AP) — Britain’s government has ordered an urgent investigation into school testing following allegations examiners secretly coached teachers on boosting their students’ grades.

The move comes after the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported it found evidence teachers were paying hundreds of pounds (dollars) a day to attend seminars where senior examiners offered advice on what wording students should use to boost scores.

The newspaper said in one case, it recorded an examiner saying "we’re cheating" to teachers and sharing what questions their students could expect on upcoming exams.

Britain’s Education Secretary Michael Gove on Thursday ordered exam regulator Ofqual to conduct an urgent inquiry into the allegations, saying the revelations "confirm the current system is discredited."
