Salt Lake man charged with criminal property damage

A 23-year-old Salt Lake man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for crashing a vehicle into a golf cart has been charged instead with two counts of criminal property damage.

According to police, Anson Oliveros accelerated his vehicle toward the golf cart but the 24-year-old victim was able to jump out before the vehicle struck the cart. 

Neither party was injured.

The victim is Oliveros’ girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, who is the father of her two children.

Oliveros was charged with first- and second-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $100,000.
