Honolulu police arrested a man they described as “a known Waikiki character” after he was allegedly seen on security camera video breaking into the resident manager’s office of an apartment building on Lewers Street and Aloha Drive.

Police said the suspect, a 29-year-old homeless man, then burglarized the apartment of a building resident.

Police said officers  arrested the suspect at 8 a.m. Friday at the Oahu Community Correctional Facility after he was identified through the video and a photographic lineup.

The alleged burglaries happened in the early morning hours on May 12.

Prosecutors charged Felix S. Soares with first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary. His bail was set at $20,000.
