Toddlers pulled from surf at Pokai Bay

Lifeguards rescued two toddlers from the surf at Pokai Bay Sunday afternoon.
The Emergency Medical Services Division reports that a 2-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl nearly drowned in the waves, but were pulled out and taken to shore by lifeguards at about 1:30 p.m.
Lifeguards and paramedics treated the two children on shore and they went by ambulance to the hospital in serious condition.
