The Hawaii soccer team prevailed on its senior day at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium today with a 2-0 defeat of Cal State Northridge.

It gave the Rainbow Wahine temporary hope that they could still qualify for the Big West tournament. However, UH needed two other simultaneous results to go their way around the league, and only one did. UC Riverside earned the last of four BWC tourney berths with a 2-1 win at Long Beach State, officially ending UH’s season at 8-8-1 overall, 3-4-1 BWC.

Tiana Fujimoto scored on a breakaway goal from Skye Shimabukuro in the 31st minute and Male Fresquez, one of six seniors, scored on a putback early in the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Monk Berger extended her single-season record with her seventh shutout.
