University of Hawaii pitcher Kaia Parnaby earned her third complete-game win of the weekend and the Rainbow Wahine softball team completed a sweep of Cal Poly with a 2-1 win today in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
UH shortstop Jessica Iwata went 3-for-3 and drove in both runs for the No. 15/20 Rainbow Wahine, who improved to 37-8 overall and 14-1 in Big West play while finishing up an 11-day road trip.
One day after breaking UH’s single-season wins record, Parnaby allowed four hits, struck out three and walked one and raised her record to 34-3.
Iwata gave UH the lead in the top the first inning with a single that scored Kayla Wartner from third.
Cal Poly answered in the bottom of the inning on Mariah Cochiolo’s run-scoring double.
Iwata struck again in the third inning with an RBI single that scored Kelly Majam from second.
Cal Poly put the tying run on base in each of the last three innings, but Parnaby held off the Mustangs each time to protect the lead and finished off her 30th complete game of the season.
UH went 6-1 on the road trip and has won 17 of its last 18. The Wahine open a two-week homestand with a series against Long Beach State starting Friday.
