UC Santa Barbara’s three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning sent the Gauchos a 6-4 win over the University of Hawaii softball team in Sunday’s Big West series finale.

UCSB claimed two wins in the three-game series at UCSB’s Campus Diamond and the Rainbow Wahine fell to 20-24 overall and 5-10 in the conference. UH has six games remaining and closes the home schedule with a series against Cal State Northridge starting Friday.

UH trailed for much of Sunday’s game but caught the Gauchos with two runs in the top of the sixth. UCSB (30-18, 10-5) led 3-1 before Sarina Jaramillo drove in Jordan Burton with a triple and scored the tying run on Sharla Kliebenstein’s sacrifice fly.

UCSB reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning on Emily Brucelas RBI single. Stacy Cavazos drove in Brucelas with a double and Kristen Clark, who went 4-for-4, added another run-scoring single.

UH’s Heather Morales drove in Keiki Carlos with a single in the top of the seventh, but UCSB pitcher Shelby Wisdom got a double play to close out a complete-game win. Morales also went the distance for UH and gave up six runs on 11 hits and walked one with no strikeouts in the loss.
