A 27-year-old Waianae man arrested in connection with a shooting in Waianae early on New Year’s Day has been charged by prosecutors.

Benjamin A. Alailefaleula, of an Ala Walua Street address, was being held on $250,000 bail after being charged late Thursday morning.

Police said he went to the Waianae home of a man, 34, as he was leaving about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect then fled the area, police said.

Police identified Alailefaleula as a suspect and contacted him. He turned himself in and was arrested at the Kapolei police station about 7:35 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

The victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center by paramedics in serious condition. His current condition is unknown.
