Woman critically hurt in early morning Aiea moped crash

A 24-year-old woman was critically injured when she apparently lost control of her moped and crashed early this morning in Aiea, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

The moped crash happened on Honomanu Street and Kamehameha Highway in Aiea at about 1:07 a.m., an EMS official said. Paramedics took the woman to the hospital in critical condition.

Police closed Ewa-bound lanes of Kamehameha Highway near the Moanalua Freeway split while they investigated the crash.

Police reopened the lanes by 4 a.m.
