A Makawao woman died Thursday after the pickup truck she was driving went off a road in Upcountry Maui.
Giuliana Johnson, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash about 1:40 p.m., Maui police said.
The 2001 Ford Ranger she was driving was traveling south on Pau Hana Road and failed to make it around a turn, went off the road and through a fence fronting a residence and struck an unoccupied vehicle, police said.
Police said Johnson was not wearing her seat belt and the vehicle’s airbags did not deploy. Police said speed is suspected as a factor in the crash.
