Woman pleads not guilty in hatchet robbery

HILO >> A 25-year-old Ocean View woman suspected of using a hatchet in a robbery attempt has pleaded not guilty to robbery and assault charges.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports Trinety Crapser entered the pleas Tuesday in Hilo and is being held on $72,000 bail.

Prosecutors say Crapser on Jan. 26 attempted to take a Corvette belonging to a woman who had stopped to place signs along South Point Road. The driver was able to gain control of the hatchet.

During the struggle, a man from Crapser’s car took a bag from the Corvette that contained the owner’s wallet and other items.

Crapser was arrested Jan. 27 and 23-year-old Kainoa Kahele-Bishop was arrested Jan. 30 in the incident. He is to be arraigned Feb. 19 on robbery and other charges.
